Start with the food allergy diagnosis

A positive test, a past reaction, and a food avoidance plan each tell only part of the story. The right treatment discussion begins with a complete, specialist-led review.

According to Dr. Jason C. Paris, MD, The Food Allergy Clinic does not use a one-size-fits-all food allergy pathway. Before discussing OIT, the team considers the patient’s diagnosis, reaction history, coexisting health conditions, current medication and safety plan, food preferences, schedule, and ability to follow daily dosing and in-office visits. This patient-first process helps determine whether OIT is appropriate and what goal makes sense.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Which foods does The Paris OIT Program currently treat?

The current program treats selected patients with peanut, tree nut, egg, milk, sesame, and other food allergies. The specific treatment recommendation is made only after a clinical evaluation.

No. A positive test alone does not determine whether OIT is needed or appropriate. The care team reviews the diagnosis, reaction history, health factors, goals, and readiness for the program.

That depends on the patient’s specific diagnoses and clinical evaluation. Tree nut allergies are not interchangeable, so the exact treatment plan must be individualized by Dr. Jason C. Paris, MD and the care team.

Yes. The Paris OIT Program offers individualized treatment for selected patients with milk and sesame allergy, as well as peanut, tree nut, egg, and other food allergies. Whether OIT is appropriate for a specific allergy is determined through a clinical evaluation of the patient’s diagnosis, reaction history, medical history, and treatment goals.

Yes. In The Paris OIT Program, every planned dose escalation occurs in the office under direct clinical observation. There is no home escalation.

No. OIT is a long-term, individualized treatment approach for selected patients. It should not be described as a cure or as a guaranteed way to eat an allergenic food freely.

Some patients may achieve sustained unresponsiveness (remission): after completing OIT and stopping the food for a period of time, they can still tolerate it. This occurs in a subset of patients, and rates vary considerably by food, age, duration of therapy, and protocol.
